    JEFF AND THE GENIE

    Meaning Clusters

    Jeff vacuumed

    his room.

    When he finished

    he accidentally brushed

    the vacuum cleaner.

    A cloud

    of dirt and dust

    surrounded Jeff.

    A voice bellowed,

    “I am a mighty Genie

    here to grant you

    three wishes.”

    Jeff said,

    “Wait a minute

    aren’t Genies supposed

    to come out

    of lamps?”

    “I guess you’re right,”

    the Genie said,

    sorry to bother you.”

    The Genie disappeared

    in another cloud

    of dust and dirt.

    Jeff had no problem

    with mythological creatures

    but he had

    to maintain some sense

    of order.

    Although

    he wished

    he had the Genie

    clean up the mess

    before pointing out

    the mistake.

    Jeff vacuumed

    his room again.

    “A mountain bike

    would have been nice

    as well.”

    he thought.
